in 2014, the european union issued the new lvd (low voltage directive) directive 2014/35/eu. the new low voltage directive will be enforced from april 20, 2016, replacing the original lvd 2006/95 /ec, so as to adapt to the new legislative framework (nlf) of the european union. all electrical equipment exported to the eu need to apply for a new low voltage directive ce certificate. similar to the previous directive (2006/95/ec), the new lvd (2014/35/eu) should be considered as a "fully unified safety directive" because it covers not only electrical risks but also all safety aspects. the directive will replace any existing national legislation in the areas covered by the directive. if electrical equipment meets the requirements of the directive, it shall be put on the market. member states shall not obstruct the free circulation within the scope of the lvd directive or the marketing of compliant equipment.
the purpose of the lvd directive is to ensure that when electrical products are correctly installed, maintained and used according to their intended use, they cannot endanger the health and safety of human beings and domestic animals, or endanger property, while ensuring the operation of the internal market. the low voltage directive covers all risks caused by the use of electrical equipment, including not only electrical, but also mechanical, chemical (especially the emission of harmful substances), the impact of noise and vibration on health, and necessary ergonomic requirements to prevent the hazards specified in the directive. the applicable scope of this directive is to use electrical products with ac voltage between 50v and 1000v and dc voltage between 75v and 1500v (note that the voltage here refers to the input or output voltage of the electrical product, and does not include the voltage of the internal circuit of the product).
1、 low voltage directive covers product range
electrical devices with rated voltage range of 50-1000v (ac) and 75-1500v (dc), such as switching power supply, led lamps, electronic and electrical equipment, audio and video products, information technology products, commercial office automation equipment not exceeding 600v, servers, displays, tv household appliances, notebook computers, personal computers and computer peripheral products.
2、 basic technical data of low voltage command
1. electrical schematic diagram (main line, diameter, motor power, fuse current or circuit breaker shall be marked)
2. layout of control surface (component drawing)
3. wiring diagram and terminal inside the electric control cabinet
4. internal layout of electric cabinet
5. list of original electrical components (name, model, manufacturer information, quantity used, whether it has passed ce certification)
6. instructions (english version)
7. product difference table
8. test report
ce certification provides a unified technical specification for products of various countries to trade in the european market and simplifies the trade procedures. any country's products must be ce certified and affixed with ce mark before entering the eu and the european free trade area. therefore, ce certification is the passport for products to enter the markets of eu and european free trade area countries. ce certification means that the products have met the safety requirements specified in the eu directives. it is a commitment of enterprises to consumers, which increases consumers' trust in the products. products with ce marks will reduce the risk of sales in the european market.
